The School of Transnational Law, Peking University (STL), is a unique institution in China. Our website provides some details.

For students from outside of China looking to do an LLM degree, the application window for enrolling in August 2107 is closing on March 31st.  There are scholarships available both through STL itself and through Chinese embassies and consulates outside of China.

Students from greater China (Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) are also eligible for the joint J.D./J.M. degree.

STL’s LL.M. program In Shenzhen, China has many advantages.  It offers a unique way to improve both a student’s knowledge of China and exposure to American/Western-style Common and Civil Law and Chinese Law at the same time.  The STL faculty within China is uniquely multinational in background (both in degrees and experience). Our teaching methodology is interactive and favors smaller classroom sizes. The program mixes top Mainland Chinese and top international students in the same classes taught in English  (and Chinese) to create a top global network for the future. Peking University is currently the top-ranked university in China and a degree from STL receives instant respect within China.  The curriculum is flexible and deep enough to allow students to specialize as they wish. There is only one required seminar which is an overview of China and Chinese Law.  STL is a relatively small school with more individualized attention from faculty and staff. The quality of life is good. The beautiful, tranquil campus is located in the fast-growing, innovative, world-class city of Shenzhen, which is the “Silicon Valley” of China.  Shenzhen borders Hong Kong to the South and the rest of the Pearl River Delta, including the trading capital, Guangzhou, to the north. It is a dynamic area in which to attend law school.
